April 22, 2003 - Acsys Biometrics/Hummingbird Defense Systems Press Release

Acsys Biometrics, Hummingbird Defense Systems and Detaq Sciences Form Strategic Alliance to Deploy Facial Recognition System in Asia

Technology Will Provide Comprehensive Solutions for Facility Security Over a Global Network

Burlington, ON, April 22, 2003 — Acsys Biometrics Corp announced today that it has formed a strategic alliance with Hummingbird Defense Systems, Inc. (H.D.S.I.), and Detaq Sciences to market Acsys Biometric face-recognition technology with H.D.S.I.'s RapidFIRE PECOS communication, command and control software environment to deliver the most robust security solutions available into the growing Asian market.

This total security and building control environment will provide customers a solution capable of securely monitoring and controlling entire facilities. With its global network communication capability, groups of facilities such as financial institutions, commercial business, airports, ports of entry, and law enforcement offices will be connected to one or more central alarm operation centers. Images and alarm notification will be broadcast over wireless networks to security personnel and law enforcement officials equipped with handheld PDA's or cellular phones.

"Acsys has been aggressively pursuing "top-shelf" channel solutions with various companies for some time now, and are pleased to sign on with companies like Detaq and Hummingbird who have strong industry relationships. These types of alliances will reduce our time to market and bear immediate revenue opportunities, along with expanding our international presence in biometric access control solutions," commented Barry Hodge, President of Acsys Biometrics.

Daina Oku, Director, Channels for Acsys Biometrics stated "This relationship is an example of our strategy to decrease our "time to market", by joining forces with world class partners. Detaq and Hummingbird have facilitated our access to this large market segment by providing the high quality distribution channel required for success."

"Detaq Sciences, Hummingbird and Acsys have successfully installed the first system, written entirely in Chinese. The initial order was for over $100,000.00 U.S. of Acsys Biometrics facerecognition systems. Two more systems are to be installed in commercial facilities in the next 30 days. An additional million dollars in short term opportunities have been identified and are in progress," stated Steve Greschner.

Detaq Sciences will act as the prime contractor and master distributor for the sales efforts of the new security and building control products in China and has been granted exclusivity in specific markets. Detaq Sciences, Hummingbird, and Acsys are also in the process of establishing a channel partner distribution program for local and regional value added resellers in China.

Commenting on the relationship, Mr. Steven Chen, Detaq Sciences Managing Director, said, "We are pleased to partner with Hummingbird and Acsys Biometrics. They are world-class organizations that react quickly and have the flexibility and willingness to tailor their solutions for the specific needs of our customers in China. The combined technology delivers highly reliable, scalable, secure alarm notification, facilities management and control solutions that allow an operator to simply touch the graphic screen to monitor and control the entire organizations health, safety, and security camera systems".

Steve Greschner, H.D.S.I. CEO, said, "Acsys has a world-class reputation for providing surveillance and access control security solutions. By integrating their face- recognition technology with our RapidFIRE PECOS system and displaying entirely in the Chinese language, we have created an unparallel suite of products designed specifically for markets in China. We see enormous potential partnering with Detaq to leverage new business channels, to dramatically penetrate a huge market ready to integrate unconnected and disparate building, safety and security devices."
